Brown Bears Open At Regular Season Wednesday At NAHL Showcase

With a pair of exhibition contests under their belt, the Kenai River Brown Bears Junior A hockey team opens the regular season on Wednesday, September 18th with a showcase game against Wilkes-Barre/Scranton in Blaine, Minnesota.

 

The Brown Bears, under first year head coach Kevin Murdock face-off against the Knights at 12:30 p.m. ADT in the first of four games for the Brown Bears at the North American Hockey League Showcase at the Schwan Arena in Blaine, Minnesota.

 

In 2018-19, the Kenai River Brown Bears posted a 23-31-6 record and finished fifth in the Midwest Division of the NAHL.  Kenai River missed the playoffs for a fifth consecutive season; the Bears last qualified in 2014.  Point scoring was a primary issue in 2018-19 with the Brown Bears finishing next-to-last in goals scored in the NAHL while allowing only 174 goals, the fewest in team history.
