Brown Bears Open NAHL Playoffs Friday Against Janesville

The Kenai River Brown Bears have qualified for the North American Hockey League playoffs and will open the first-round, best of five series against the Janesville Jets on Friday, May 21st in Wisconsin.

 

Kenai River enters the Robertson Cup playoffs as the #4 seed in the Midwest Division and faces the #1 seed Janesville in Wisconsin.  The top seeded Jets will host the first two games of the series; game three and game four (if necessary) will be played at the Super Rink in Blaine, Minnesota, on May 28 and 29; and game five (if necessary) will be in Janesville on May 31.

 

The Brown Bears, with a below .500 record of 22-24-1-1, earn the fourth playoff position in the five-team Midwest Division.  Kenai River dropped its final three regular season games, while the Fairbanks Ice Dogs earned the #2 seed in the Midwest finishing 25-19-2-2 with a final two-game sweep of the Brown Bears.  The Brown Bears qualify to the playoffs for the first time since the 2014 season.  Kenai River has never advanced beyond the first round in the Robertson Cup series.
