Brown Bears Open New Year With Familiar Results

The Kenai River Brown Bears rang in the New Year, after a two week holiday break, with a similar result that closed-out 2021.

 

Kenai River dropped a pair of Midwest Division games to the Minnesota Magicians in-front-of a sparse crowd at the Springfield Ice Arena.

 

Magicians 5 – Kenai River 2

Kenai River managed a pair of third period goals in a 5-2 loss to the Minnesota Magicians on New Year’s Day.  The Magicians built a 4-0 lead through two periods.  Brown Bears Brendan Hill and Logan Kroyman recorded goals.

Down 6-0 late in the third period, Kenai River’s Cole Dubicki scored the Brown Bears only goal in a 6-1 loss to the Magicians on January 2nd.  The Brown Bears were out-shot 39-20 in the loss.

 

Kenai River has lost four-straight divisional games and currently stand at 7-21-2-1 in the Midwest Division.

 

The Brown Bears face-off against the Janesville Jets on January 6-8 at the Janesville Ice Arena, a three-game series before Kenai River returns to Alaska for a pair of games in Fairbanks against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs on January 14-15.

The next homestand for the Brown Bears begins on January 21st against Janesville at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.
