The Kenai River Brown Bears Junior A hockey team opened 2016 with the second game of a two-game series against the Johnstown Pennsylvania Tomahawks, and 2016 opened as 2015 closed, with a Brown Bear loss in North American Hockey League action.
The Brown Bears fell 3-1 to the Tomahawks and extended its current losing streak to 29-straight games. The Brown Bears stand at 1-30-1 on the season. Kenai River closes the current road trip with games against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights with games on Friday and Saturday, January 8-9.
The Brown Bears return for a home series o January 15-16 against the Minnesota Wilderness at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.
