The Brown Bears surrendered two early goals in the first period and trailed 2-0 before finding their offense on the Olympic-size sheet of ice at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.

Kenai River’s Lucas Wahlin scored in the second period to draw the Brown Bears to 2-1; only to have the Brown Bears defense give up a late, second period goal.  The Steel lead 3-1 after two periods of hockey.

Kenai River dominated the final period with four goals scored by four different players.  Max Helgeson opened the third period scoring and Branson Lajoie tied the game at 3-3 with a goal early in the third period.  Shayne Tomlinson gave the Brown Bears their first lead at 9:38 of the third period and Ryan Reid added an empty-netter with one second remaining in regulation.  Final Score: Kenai River 5 – Chippewa 3.
