The Kenai River Brown Bears scored a pair of first period goals on Saturday to record a second-straight Midwest Division victory over the visiting Chippewa Steel at the Soldotna regional Sports Complex.
Kenai River 4 – Chippewa 3
The Brown Bears posted a 3-0 advantage after two periods, enroute to a 4-3 NAHL victory over the Chippewa Steel.
Single goals were scored by Cam Blanton and Morgan Winters in the first period; Lucas Wahlin added a second period goal. In the third period, Kenai River allowed a goal just :20 seconds into the period; then answered with a Peter Morgan goal just :15 seconds later for a 4-1 lead. Back-to- back Steel goals drew Chippewa close and the two teams battled scoreless for the final 11+ minutes of regulation. Kenai River’s Luke Pavicich recorded 28 saves. Final Score: Brown Bears 4 – Steel 3.
