The Kenai River Brown Bears Junior A hockey team is set to open up its first homestand of the 2020-21 hockey season with games scheduled for Friday, Saturday and Sunday against the Chippewa Steel at the Soldotna Regional Sports Complex.
The fans have responded with tickets sold-out for Friday, Saturday and Sunday, April 23-25. No day-of game or walk-up tickets will be available for the weekend series. Spectators must have pre-purchased tickets and must have tickets in hand at the arena.

For the eight-game, homestand, the Brown Bears are offering tickets online with only 250 tickets available for each of the games. All spectators, including all children, must have a ticket for the official, spectator count limit.
The 250 spectator limit is a result of the increase in COVID-19 cases on the Kenai Peninsula and the resulting initiating of the City of Soldotna Resolution 2021-009, Section 6, which states,
“Should the number of COVID-19 cases in the Central Kenai Peninsula exceed an average daily case rate of 10 per 100,000 population over a 14-day period, the spectator capacity allowed at any ice event at SRSC shall automatically reduce to 250 people and the Council will reevaluate the SRSC COVID- 19 protocols”.
The spectator limit can increase to 750 if the Central Kenai Peninsula covid case counts drop back to a “yellow-medium risk” level on the 14-day sliding scale. As of April 20th, the Kenai Peninsula Borough COVID-19 count was “red” high risk with an average of 20.36 cases per day. The Central Kenai Peninsula case rate increased from 23.6 last week (April 15th) to 25.61 cases as of April 22nd..

Pre-Purchased Ice Dog Series Tickets
Games against the Fairbanks Ice Dogs, which were originally scheduled for April 16th and 17th, have been been rescheduled to May 14th and 15th.
Tickets already purchased for the 4/16 game will be honored on 5/14 only; likewise, for the 4/17 game, those tickets will only be honored for the 5/15 game.
