After earning three of four points in the home series against the Minnesota Magicians, the Kenai River Brown Bears advanced to the top position in the Midwest Division standings in the early NAHL hockey season. Kenai River split the two-games series with the Magicians winning 2-1 in overtime on Saturday following a 1-0 loss on Friday.
The Brown Bears travel to Maine to battle the Maine Nordiques in a two-game series beginning on Friday, October 25th.
Kenai River goaltender Landon Pavlisin earned the Midwest Division Star of the Week Award for his performance in net for the Brown Bears against Minnesota. Pavlisin recorded 67 saves on 68 shots in the two-game series allowing a single goal in the Brown Bears 2-1 overtime victory and recording a shutout through the overtime period in the Brown Bears 1-0 loss in a shootout.
