Bucs Rally In Ninth To Down Oilers 6-5 To Open Road Swing

The Anchorage Bucs scored three runs in the bottom of the ninth inning for a 6-5 Alaska Baseball League victory over the Peninsula Oilers on Wednesday at Mulcahy Park.  The Oilers lead 5-1 after six innings and 5-3 into the ninth inning.

 

Bucs 6 – Oilers 5 

The Oilers plated three runs in the first inning on a 3-RBI double by Jeremy Conant following three, straight single to open the game.

The Oilers built a 5-1 lead through the first seven innings, then allowed two runs in the eighth. A double play stopped the Bucs run in the inning.  The Oilers used seven pitchers, six combined to close the final three innings following a five inning, one run outing by starter Aaron Shoup.  Four Oilers relievers allowed three runs in the final two innings.

The Bucs tied the game in the ninth inning against reliever Caleb Hicks with a lead-off walk coming around to score to tie the game at 5-5.  A walk-off RBI single plates the game-winner for the Bucs.  Final Score: Bucs 6 – Oilers 5.

 

The Oilers face the Anchorage Glacier Pilots in a doubleheader at Mulcahy Park on Thursday.  Game one scheduled for 5:00 p.m.
