Bulldogs Are In! Nikiski Boys Earn 3A State Basketball Slot

The Nikiski boys basketball team, on the strength of their regular season and a 3-1 Southcentral tournament run, have earned the one at-large berth to the 3A basketball state tournament.

 

The Bulldogs will join SCC champion Grace Christian and tournament runner-up Anchorage Christian School in the eight-team 3A boys basketball state tournament.  2016 is the first year that the WPI, winning percentage index, to determine the final state qualifier.

 

The eight 3A boys teams to compete at the ASAA 3A State Championships include:

West Region: Barrow, champion and Bethel, runner-up

Southcentral: Grace, champion and ACS, runner-up

Aurora: Delta, champion and Monroe, runner-up

Southeast: Mt. Edgecombe

At-Large: Nikiski Bulldogs

 

Nikiski is the #7 seed and will open the 3A tournament against the #2 Monroe Rams on Thursday, March 24 at the Alaska Airlines Center at UAA.   Game time set for 7:15 p.m.
