The Nikiski volleball team closed-out their home schedule on Tuesday night with a Senior Night, five-game match victory over the Soldotna Stars.
In the non-divisional contest, the Bulldogs, now 10-0 in dual matches, finished off the Stars in game five 15-13 after the two teams split the first four games of the five game set. Nikiski won game one 26-24 and game three 25-22; the Stars take game two 25-22 and game four 25-11 to set up the deciding game five.
Nikiski will compete in the Grace Christian tournament on Friday and Saturday; the Stars are off for the weekend.
Hooper Attempts (breaks?) Guinness Record
As part of the Nikiski volleyball Senior Night, Nikiski athletic director and teacher Dylan Hooper attempted to set a Guinness World Record in front of a supportive home crowd.
Hooper’s attempt at the record for Heaviest Weight Beard Lift included a successful lift of Bulldog Justin Cox at a weight of 145.9 pounds. The attempt was documented and will be sent to Guinness World Records for verification.
The current record is held by Antanas Kontrimas of Istanbul, Turkey at 63.80 kg (140 lb 16 oz).
