The final weekend of April for the high school soccer season opened with the Kodiak Bears and Nikiski Bulldogs splitting varsity games at Nikiski on Thursday.
Nikiski Girls 2 – Kodiak 0
The Bulldog girls recorded two goals, one by Rylee Jackson and one for Kelcei Zoda, en-route to a 2-0 victory over Kodiak. Brianna Vollertsen, in goal for Nikiski, preserved the shutout with a penalty shot save late in extra time.
Nikiski Boys 1 – Kodiak 3
The Bulldog boys dropped a 3-1 decision to Kodiak in Northern Lights Conference play on Thursday.
Nikiski’s Dylan Broussard managed the only Bulldog goal. Kodiak improves to 5-2, while the Bulldog boys fall to 1-4.
Nikiski will host Soldotna Saturday. Girls varsity game at 11 a.m. and boys varsity at 1 p.m.
