After an extended holiday break, conference basketball opened for the Nikiski Bulldogs and Seward Seahawks with Nikiski hosting Seward on Friday night in Southcentral Conference action.
The Soldotna basketball teams continued play at the Nome/Beltz Subway Showdown basketball tournament.
Nikiski Girls 57 – Seward 32
The Bulldog girls defeated Seward 57-32 on the strength of a 35-12 first half. Kaitlyn Johnson scored 17 and Lillian Carstens added 13 for Nikiski.
Seward Boys 63 – Nikiski 49
Noah Litke scored 16 and Austin Stafford added 12 points in Nikiski’s 63-49 loss to the Seward Seahawks. Trey Ingalls recorded a game-high 23 points for Seward.

Soldotna basketball teams recorded a pair of second-round victories over Unalakleet on Friday at the Nome/Beltz Subway Showdown basketball tournament.
SoHi Girls 69 – Unalakleet 34
The Soldotna girls won their second tournament game with a 69-34 victory over Unalakleet lead by a 25-point game for Ituau Tuisaula.
SoHi Boys 72 – Unalakleet 30
Tyler Morrison lead the Stars with 20 points in a 2-30 win over Unalakleet.
Both Soldotna tams are unbeaten in tournament play in Nome.
The SoHi girls and boys battle host Nome on Saturday with the girls game scheduled for 5 & 6:30 p.m. at Nome/Beltz High School.
