Bulldogs Split With Mariners In SCC Basketball

The Nikiski Bulldog basketball teams opened a week filled with conference basketball contests on Tuesday with the Homer Mariners on the court at Nikiski.

Nikiski Girls 61 – Homer 36

The Bulldog girls remain undefeated in the Southcentral Conference witha 61-36 victory over the Mariners.

Nikiski jumped-out to a 22-4 lead in the first quarter, lead by Bethany Carstens’ 12 points in the quarter.  Carstens finished with 24 points for the game; Kelsey Clark and Emma Wik each added 8 points.

Nikiski Boys 45 – Homer 50

The Bulldog boys battle Homer in a back-and-forth contest which goes to the Mariners 50-45.  The Bulldogs lead 10-9 after one quarter and trailed 29-27 after three quarters.  Ian Johnson scored 21 for Nikiski; Kody Etzwiler scored 18 for the Mariners.

 

Nikiski continues Southcentral Conference play on Friday and Saturday with home games against Grace Christian on Friday and Anchorage Christian School on Saturday.  The ACS girls are also unbeaten in the SCC and the Grace girls played Nikiski to a two-point game earlier this season.  The Grace boys are also #1 in the conference standings.
