Calling All Artists – Create A Masterpiece In Alaska’s Wild Places Alongside A Wilderness Expert

Author: KSRM News Desk |

Artists with a love of capturing the natural world while giving back to the land have a one-of-a-kind opportunity to combine both passions into one program.

Interested creative types are encouraged to apply for the Voices of the Wilderness Artist-in-Residence Program in Alaska, being offered during the 2023 summer season.

Applications for the program are being accepted now through March 1, 2023. To download an application, visit: http://www.fs.usda.gov/goto/votw.

The program is Alaska-based and is open to artists from anywhere in the world. These talented folks are partnered with a Wilderness specialist to take part in research or stewardship projects while creating art in unique places in the state. An artist’s final artwork is often used in environmental educational or promotional materials to help others learn more about the value of our wild public lands.

This year’s program features 11 Wilderness areas and includes areas managed by the USDA Forest Service, National Park Service and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service. It is open to artists of all types from visual to audio, performance art and more.

Apply now to experience the Wilderness and use creativity to share art inspired by Alaska’s National Forests and other public lands – where nature, people, and tradition come together.
