The candidate filing period for Soldotna’s October mayoral race will open this Saturday, August 1, at 9:00 am.
So far only Soldotna Council Member Pete Sprague has given a definite yes that he will be filing for candidacy.
Cm. Sprague: “City’s in excellent shape right now and I think it’s important to keep looking at the future to keep the city on firm footing. And one of the issues that we’ll be addressing obviously will be annexation.”
Council Member Linda Murphy replied via email that she has not yet decided whether to run for mayor or her council seat which is up this year.
Two members, Meggean Bos-Marquez and Keith Baxter both answered: at this time, no.
Paul Whitney’s term ends this fall and replied he only plans to run for his council seat, not for mayor.
Current Vice Mayor Regina Daniels was the only council member who could not be reached.
