All of the hard work and years of training leads to a Thursday realization of a basketball dream for Bethany Carstens.
Nikiski senior Bethany Carstens will sign an NCAA Division I Letter of Intent to play collegiate basketball at Chicago State University in a signing ceremony scheduled for Thursday, November 15th at Nikiski High School.
The official signing period for Division I basketball recruits began on Wednesday; Carstens will sign in-front-of family, friends and teammates, committing to the Chicago State Cougars in the Western Athletic Conference.
Carstens’ basketball accolades include:
2018 Alaska Association of Basketball Coaches 3A Player of the Year and 2018 Southcentral Conference MVP.
Three other Alaskan female basketball players signed NCAA Letters of Intent on Wednesday, including:
Alissa Pili of Dimond High signing with the University of Southern California (USC Trojans). Pili is a two-time Alaska Gatorade Player of the Year and 10-time state champion in four different sports including basketball, volleyball, track, wrestling.
Azaria Robinson of East High – New Mexico Lobos women’s basketball
Olivia Davies of Wasilla – University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors
Alissa Pili, Azaria Robinson and Olivia Davies were all 1st-team AABC All-State selections in 2017-18.
