Casey Roehl Earns STAA All-American Honors For Second-Straight Year

The “Voice of Peninsula Oilers Baseball” for the 2019 Alaska Baseball League season ,Casey Roehl, has been honored as an honorable mention, collegiate All-American by the STAA All-America Competition.

 

The STAA All-America Competition recognizes the most outstanding collegiate radio and TV sports broadcasters.  Its mission is to encourage collegiate sportscasters to strive to achieve their best.  Each spring, the nation’s most outstanding collegiate sportscaster is presented the Jim Nantz Award, named in honor of the award winning CBS sports broadcaster.

 

Casey Roehl, a 2020 graduate of Indiana University and 2016 graduate of Dimond High School in Anchorage, completed is fourth season working with the Peninsula Oilers in 2019, his second season as the lead play-by-play announcer for Peninsula Oilers baseball broadcasts on ESPN 1140AM and www.radiokenai.com.  Roehl, during his college career, broadcast basketball, soccer, football and hockey for numerous outlets including NCAA, ACHA, NAHL, USHL, and ECHL.

 

Roehl was the first UI student to earn STAA All-American status in 2019 and in 2020 again finishes in the top-thirty national-wide for the Jim Nantz Award.

 

Casey Roehl returns to ESPN 1140AM’s baseball coverage for the summer of 2020 as the “road play-by-play guy” for coverage of the Alaska 20 Twins baseball games.  Roehl will be behind the mic on Saturday, June 20th for the Twins doubleheader beginning with the Sweeney’s Pre-Game Show at 1:15 p.m. on ESPN 1140AM and www.radiokenai.com.
