HEA customers started losing power across the peninsula at roughly 1:30 am this morning.

Reports are coming in that a downed power line is emitting sparks and possibly catching fire on Milky Way Rd. off of Holt Lamplight in Nikiski.
We have received reports that all flights this morning, Friday February 7th from Anchorage to Kenai and other areas across the peninsula are currently grounded due to high winds and blowing snow. We spoke to Shelby Turner with Era Aviation who told us more about what they are expecting. Turner: “It’s not looking good, the winds are pretty bad and they’re getting worse. We’re still on weather hold. I don’t see any flights going out anytime soon. She also said that winds may die down around 5pm tonight.

Last night a Kenai City Council’s meeting, the council voted for the Kenai City Manager to write a letter of support for House Bill 141.
