The Stars advanced to their third straight DII State Championship with a win over Palmer on Saturday, and the Kardinals fell in a semifinal loss to the North Pole Patriots.

The Kenai Kardinals and Soldotna Stars Baseball teams each won their opening round games at the Division 2 State tournament on Thursday.

The Soldotna Stars Baseball and Kenai Central Kardinals teams received automatic bids to the Division II state baseball championship tournament this week after finishing first and second in the Northern Lights Conference tournament over the weekend.

The Soldotna Stars are Northern Lights Conference Champions for the first time after a one-run win over the Kenai Kardinals on Saturday.

The Soldotna Stars and Kenai Kardinals worked their way from opposite sides of the NLC Conference Tournament Bracket to face one another in the Conference Championship.

Kenai opens against #7 Redington at 9 a.m. on Thursday. SoHi plays #8 Grace at 3 p.m. in Kodiak. 

The Stars and Kardinals had winning road trips to finish out the regular season.
