Agencies are still investigating the causes of both the Funny River fire and the Sandra Road fire near Homer.

Last week the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service requested the public’s help for any additional information they may have as to the cause of the Funny River fire.

The fire was discovered along the Woodcut Road near Mile 6.5 of Funny River Road Monday May 19 and has burned over 193,000 acres.

Anyone with information should contact the Alaska State Troopers at 907-262-4453.

The Sandra Road fire was responded to by Division of Forestry shortly after 4pm June 5 and burned 8.3 acres but was contained that night.

Both fires have been determined to have been human caused, as there has been no lighting in the area.
