Central Emergency Service Responds To 3 House Fires

Central Emergency Services responded to three different house fires overnight on Wednesday, April 26 and the morning of April 27th.

 

According to Chief Roy Browning, two homes on fire were dispatched nine minutes apart on Thursday night.

 

The initial house fire was in Sterling, off of Feuding Lane, dispatched at 10:30 p.m., the second house fire was called in at 10:39 p.m. and was confined to the home’s garage.

 

That second fire was located off of Scholastic and Poppy Ridge Road, the City of Kenai Fire Department was dispatched Auto-aid to assist CES Engine 2 and Ladder 1 on the garage fire off of Poppy Ridge Road.

 

The fire was put out by a portable fire extinguisher by the homeowner, and CES fire crews performed overhaul to check for hidden fire extension into the walls.

 

CES crews also responded to a third house fire the next morning at 6:33 a.m. off of South Cohoe Loop, in Kasilof.  The fire appeared to have started in the chimney and spread to the attic, which was put out quickly by the first in crew from the CES Kasilof Fire Station.

 

CES reminds the public to have functioning smoke alarms, portable fire extinguishers and perform routine chimney cleaning and maintenance.
