Dan Nelson, Borough Incident Commander, and Brenda Ahlberg, Borough Information Officer, will be hosting a community conversation on Tuesday, March 31 at 7 p.m. The special guest for the conversation will be Bruce Richards, Public Affairs Director of Central Peninsula Hospital in Soldotna.

Mr. Nelson will provide an update on the status of COVID-19 in the area and Mr. Richards will help answer questions about COVID-19 testing, alternate care sites, and more.

Kenai Peninsula Borough Mayor Charlie Pierce says that not only will healthcare questions be answered, but also more general daily updates: “Tonight, Brenda Ahlberg and Dan Nelson – every night – every evening – they’ve given up a lot of their personal time to help us have good information, accurate information. They’ve done a great job through this ordeal and tonight they’re trying to get the best information. There’s been a lot of questions related to healthcare stuff, what’s available, testing, ventilators, all of that will be asked tonight. Bruce Richards will be on at 7 p.m.”

Mayor Pierce also says that the Borough is doing its best to utilize social media to fulfill its responsibility to keep Kenai Peninsula residents educated and aware: “We have certainly tried to use the social media vein of communication to get out better information to you. I believe that you should know what’s going on in your Borough, and it’s fundamental. It’s been a priority of mine as your Mayor to openly go into the Borough and communicate with you.”
