In a determined effort to celebrate the strength and resilience of cancer survivors, Central Peninsula Hospital, in partnership with the Central Peninsula Health Foundation and the Alaska Cancer Partnership, is thrilled to announce its upcoming Cancer Survivors Wellbeing Fair, set to take place on Saturday, September 16th. This one-of-a-kind event aims to provide a day of empowerment, education, and inspiration for individuals who are on the road to recovery, as well as their families and caregivers.

The Cancer Survivors Wellbeing Fair is a heartfelt initiative designed to cater to the unique needs of cancer survivors as they navigate life beyond their diagnosis. It will be held in the River Tower of the CPH Campus from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and promises to be a dynamic and impactful event. The fair has been designed around the American Institute for Lifestyle Medicine’s six pillars of health: Eat plants, keep moving, be present, stay calm, and love people. Attendees will be treated to live entertainment, healthy catering including a mocktail bar, integrative therapies & activities, prize drawings, and gifts for survivors, all focused on promoting physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing.

Highlights of the fair will include:

  • Educational Workshops: Leading healthcare workers, nutritionists, therapists, and mental health experts will be on hand to address topics such as survivorship care, nutrition during recovery, and managing post-treatment emotions.
  • Fitness and Movement Sessions: Attendees can participate in gentle seated yoga, meditation, and movement classes designed to enhance flexibility, strength, and overall physical and mental wellbeing.
  • Supportive Community: A space for survivors to connect, share stories, and build a supportive network of peers who understand the challenges of life after cancer.
  • Wellbeing Marketplace: Local vendors and organizations will showcase products and services tailored to enhance the lives of cancer survivors, including organic skincare, mindfulness tools, healthy food and supplements, and helpful handouts.
  •  Keynote Speaker: The fair will feature keynote speaker William (Mike) Patrick, who will share his own journey with Pancreatic Cancer, offering inspiration and motivation to all attendees.
  •  Art Therapy: Cancer survivors are invited to leave their handprint on a quilt square that will be integrated into a Survivors Quilt that will be proudly displayed in the CPH Oncology Center.

“Cancer survivors are braver, stronger and more resilient than you can imagine,” said Shaun Keef, Central Peninsula Hospital Chief Executive Officer. “It is an honor to take the time for this event in recognizing how incredible this group is and to explore the next steps in life’s journey.”

The Cancer Survivors Wellbeing Fair is open to all cancer survivors, their families, and caregivers, as well as the broader community who has been touched by cancer.
