The Borough’s Office of Emergency Management has extended the registration for January’s Community Emergency Response Training classes.
Program Coordinator Dan Nelson…
Nelson: “For the Soldotna CERT class we have about 15 people registered now and a good class size is about 20 so we’re going to extend the deadline to the 1st to register because the holidays is such a busy time of the year so hopefully we can get a few more folks who will be interested in doing that here in January as soon as the ho9liday s calm down, our first class starts on January 2.”
Those classes address disaster preparedness, fire suppression, disaster medical operations, some search and rescue, and team organization.
The training involves four courses starting January 2, which is Friday evening from 6 – 9 pm and then three full Saturday courses after that, ending January 17 with a mock emergency.
