The Central Emergency Services “Fill the Boot” fundraiser is back after a brief hiatus. Brad Nelson with CES said they’re trying something new this year…
Nelson: “We are trying something different, we’ve had concerns in the past from multiple agencies that we were out in the middle of the intersection, in amongst the cars, it was dangerous, holding people up, so we’re going to try something different this year, I approached Fred Meyers, they are going to allow us to use a corner of their parking lot so we’re going to bring the ladder truck out there, set up our station out there in the corner of the parking lot so people can swing through safely, drop off their money, if they want to swing by and say hi and let the kids get a picture with the fire truck that’s more than welcome as well, so it will be a little more interactive if you’d like it to be, if not you can swing by, fill our boot and be on your merry way, but we’re going to try this this year and see how it works, so if anybody has positive feedback, negative feedback, we’re looking for that this year.”
You can stop by and donate on Saturday, August 30th from 9am to 3:30pm. Nelson said the donations won’t be leaving this area…
Nelson: “It is for the Muscular Dystrophy Association, MDA, for Jerry’s Kids, the money that we raise will be helping with the telethon and it goes to the local MDA which is what we like.”
