Roads Treacherous, Freezing Rain Advisory Extended

Freezing rain has left roads treacherous and the advisory from the National Weather Service has been extended until 4 pm this evening.

Central Emergency Services’ Brad Nelson has said that if there’s any way people can postpone travels on the roads they should.

Nelson: “Yeah if they can postpone until this afternoon when DOT can get out there and work on the roads then that’s what they should do but right now it’s just treacherous out here.”

Earlier CES responded to a ditched vehicle near mile 105 and Duane Beavers also called to inform that there was a semi on it’s side blocking traffic near Moose Pass.

Beavers: “My dispatcher called me and turned me around, I was headed to Seward but they just let me know.”

Nelson asked that drivers be very patient and allow for extra time.

There have also been numerous emergency responses to local parking lots due to people falling on the ice while walking to their cars.
