One of Kenai’s most beloved holiday events is back just in time to ring in the Christmas holiday spirit now that Thanksgiving is in the rear-view mirror as the Kenai Chamber of Commerce presents Christmas Comes To Kenai today at the Kenai Visitor’s Center.

Brittany Brown, Executive Director of the Kenai Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center, told KSRM:

Last year we didn’t have photos with Santa and we’re bringing it back this year. That is happening (today), the day after Thanksgiving. Starting at 11:00 a.m., Santa will be arriving at the Kenai Visitor’s Center on a City of Kenai fire truck to meet and take photos with the kids and they will be able to meet Santa’s elves, his reindeer, all while sipping some hot coco and nibbling on some delicious cookies. After meeting with Santa, the kids will be able get a tour of Santa’s workshop with opportunities to pick a goodie bag to take home. Photos with Santa will run from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m. Starting at 6:00 p.m. is the Electric Lights Parade, which will start at Spur View Drive along the Frontage Road then run through onto the Kenai Visitor’s Center parking lot, which they will all park and folks will be able to take a look at all of the participants. There will be a bonfire following the parade, also, for folks to warm up at. At 7:00 p.m. is our fireworks.”

The Chamber of Commerce says that the grand finale fireworks display that’s scheduled for 7:00 p.m. aims to be the longest firework show to date. When you’re watching the firework display, tune into one of your favorite music radio stations in the KSRM Radio Group to hear holiday hits synchronized to the fireworks. Those stations include:

Brown also says to come prepared:

It’s going to be cold, so we just recommend folks bundle up if you’re going to be outside most of the day. We’re doing everything we can to have the visitor’s center open so folks can warm up as well as have the bonfire running so it’ll be a really awesome time.”
