Christmas In The Soldotna Park!

He’s gonna find out who’s naughty or nice. That’s right kids, Santa Claus is coming to Soldotna Creek Park!

Executive Director Maddy McElrea says that the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce has been working hard in preparation for Santa’s big arrival, and well as some extra surprises for this event.

“We’ve been working very hard in the office, coordinating Santa and his reindeer here to visit. So this Saturday, December 2nd starting at 4:30pm at Soldotna Creek Park, we have our Christmas in the Park event,” says McElrea.

One thing about Christmas in Soldotna, is that you can never have enough Christmas cheer. And to make some of that magic happen, the Chamber was going to need some holiday reinforcements. Luckily for them, they were able to get some helping hands from nearly 30 different sponsors!

“We will be giving free cocoa and cookies and coffee and those are sponsored by McDonald’s, Starbucks, and Kalani brothers and we will have free stockings to give away to the kiddos,” said McElrea.

At 4:50, Santa Claus will make his way to the park on his magical, red fire truck. At 5:00 p.m., the tree lighting ceremony will take place. And from there, Santa will be ready to talk to all the good children of the Peninsula to share their Christmas wishes, and get some photos.

After the little ones talk to Santa, they can enjoy a majestic (and free) sleigh ride, provided by Alaska C&C Horse Adventures.

And just when the clock strikes 6:30, the night sky will be filled with extravagant fireworks!

[At] 6:30pm, we will have a firework show and the fireworks are lit from across the river on Funny River Road so if you’re out the park is the best place to be for this firework show,” says McElrea.

So tell your kids to get their Christmas lists ready, because Santa Claus is coming to Soldotna Creek Park this Saturday at 4:50 pm.

And for anyone who’s interesting in volunteering for this event, be sure to give the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce a call at 907-262-9814.
