Chugach National Forest To Host Kenai Peninsula Cabins Project Public Meetings

The Chugach National Forest will host public meetings on July 10, 11, 12, and August 8 to provide information on the Chugach National Forest Kenai Peninsula Cabins Project.  Forest leadership, program managers, and resource specialists will present information and answer questions about these proposed actions.

 

The Chugach National Forest has found changes to cabin user trends over recent years and has identified the need to increase capacity and accessibility.  To meet that need, the Forest intends to construct five new cabins in four locations on the Glacier and Seward Ranger Districts utilizing funding from the 2021 Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL).  The proposed cabins will promote easier access to public lands for communities and recreationists in Southcentral Alaska.

 

The public meeting agendas includes a short presentation followed by an opportunity for the public to ask Chugach National Forest staff questions about the proposed Cabins.
