The congregation of the East Gate Fellowship on East End Road arrived Sunday morning to find damage to their new church building addition.
Mary Rainwater…
Rainwater: “The church service was fine, the damage was a little bit shocking, when you see what can happen. But it’s understandable, I came home from the Cowboy Cabaret that night and saw the snow so it’s understandable that somebody would want to play in it.”
Rainwater said it appeared someone in a maroon colored vehicle was spinning circles in the church parking lot when they lost control and broke through a church wall.
Rainwater: “It broke the siding and moved a bench that was along the wall so the sheet rock inside is broken, the plywood in the wall and the vapor barrier is broken.”
The damages are estimated between $2,000 and $5,000 but Rainwater said there are few hard feelings.
Rainwater: “Whoever did this is probably feeling pretty bad about it, they didn’t mean to ya know.”
State Troopers are still investigating.
