The 2020 Peninsula Conference Basketball Tournament crowned the Nikolaevsk girls and Lumen Christi boys as conference champions and the Cook Inlet Academy girls and Nikolaevsk boys earn berths to the 1A basketball state tournament, following four days of competition at Cook Inlet Academy.

CIA Girls 53 – Birchwood Academy 45
The CIA girls qualify to the ASAA 1A State Basketball Championships with a 53-45 victory over Birchwood Academy.
CIA lead 39-37 after three quarters and pulled-away with a 14-point, fourth quarter. Genna Nelson lead the Eagles with 14 points and Anna Henderson added 13.
Cook Inlet and Nikolaevsk will represent the Peninsula Conference at the 1A girls state tournament scheduled for March 18-21 at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage. Tournament brackets will be available following all 1A regional tournaments.
Nikolaevsk 50 – Ninilchik 48
The Warrior boys upset #2 seed Ninilchik in Saturday’s 2nd-place game 50-48 and advance to the ASAA 1A State Basketball Championships as the runner-up in the Peninsula Conference. Nikolaevsk avenged a 57-4 loss to Ninilchik in the tournament’s second round on Thursday.
Ninilchik and Nikolaevsk were tied at 24-24 at the half, then the Warriors built a 37-30 lead after three quarters. A late rally for the Wolverines cam up short. Lukah Kalugin had 20 points for the Warriors; Zachary Trail lead the wolverines with 10 points.
Lumen Christi and Nikolaevsk will represent the Peninsula Conference at the 1A boys state tournament scheduled for March 18-21 at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage. Tournament brackets will be available following all 1A regional tournaments.
