The Cook Inlet Academy girls basketball team will join the CIA boys at the ASAA 1A State basketball Championships; Cook Inlet securing the #2 seed from the Peninsula Conference with a 46-21 victory on Saturday over Birchwood Academy in the 2nd-Place game.
CIA Girls 46 – Birchwood 21 2nd Place Game (state qualifier)
The Cook Inlet girls defense held Birchwood to two points in the first quarter and only five points in the second quarter as the Eagles cruised to a 46-21 victory in the 1A Peninsula Conference state qualifying game.
Tatum Rozak led all scorers with 23 points and Hope Hillyer added 15 for the Eagle girls.
The Cook Inlet girls and the CIA boys (Peninsula Conference Champions) both qualify to the ASAA 1A State Basketball Championships scheduled for March 15-18 at the Alaska Airlines Center in Anchorage. Brackets will be released early next week following other conference tournaments.
Boys 2nd Place Game
Lumen Christi survived overtime for a 37-33 win over Birchwood Academy and earned the second seed to the 1A boys state tournament. Lumen joins Peninsula Conference champion Cook Inlet representing the conference at the state tournament.
