CIA Opens Soccer Season With Five Victories

The 2022 Borealis Co-Ed Soccer season is in full swing with the Cook Inlet Academy Eagles representing the Kenai Peninsula in the fall, small school co-ed soccer season.  Teams competing in the fall soccer season include: CIA, Su-Valley (2021 champions), Birchwood Christian, Delta Junction, Holy Rosary, Lumen Christi, Nenana, and Tri-Valley.

 

Cook Inlet Academy record a pair of victories in the opening week and followed-up with a three-game road sweep over the weekend.

 

Cook Inlet Soccer on the Road

The Eagles, on Saturday, defeated the 2021 Borealis champion Su-Valley 4-1 to complete a three-game sweep.  Noah Castenholz had two goals and Lacey Sorhus had a goal assisted by Valerie Cazeras. Jeremiah Dillingham recorded the win in goal for  the Eagles.

Friday, The Eagles dominated Birchwood Christian 8-0 lead by a pair of three-goal, hat tricks by Noah Castenholz and Abe Henderson.  Jeremiah Dillingham and Rachel Johnson added single goals.  Britt Hall anchored a stingy defensive line that helped Jeremiah and Rebekah Dillingham record the shutout.

The week opened with a 3-1 victory over Lumen Christi in Anchorage.  Noah Castenholz recorded a three-goal hat trick accounting for every goal scored.

For the three-game series, Castenholz scored eight goals for the Eagles.

 

Opening Weekend of Borealis Soccer

Cook Inlet Academy opened up the 2022 Borealis Conference season with a pair of wins.  Against Holy Rosary in Anchorage, the Eagles posted a convincing 7-0 result with Jeremiah Dillingham’s 4-goal performance.  Sam Nelson added a pair of goals and Abraham Henderson recorded a goal and two assists.

On Saturday, CIA hosted the Tri Valley Warriors and defended their home field with a 9-1 victory.  Abraham Henderson found the back of the net 4 times while Jeremiah Dillingham and Grayden Musgrave each scored a pair.  Rachel Johnson rounded out the scoring for the Eagles.
