The Cook Inlet Academy co-ed soccer team finished tournament play at the Tri-Valley Kick-Off Soccer Tournament with a 9-0 championship game victory over host Tri-Valley on Saturday, completing an unbeaten run through the tournament.

Cook Inlet opened with an 8-0 shutout of Birchwood Academy on Thursday lead by a three-goal hat trick for both Noah Castenholz and Graydon Musgrave and a two-goal effort by Jerry Dillingham.

In their second Thursday pairing, CIA downed Su-Valley 3-2.  Trailing 2-0, the Eagles rallied for three, unanswered goals before the game was called due to darkness.  Castenholz scored all three goals for CIA in the victory.

On Friday, Cook Inlet played their third game of the tournament and battled to a 2-2 tie with the Lumen Christi Archangels.  Abraham Henderson scored both CIA goals with his second goal tying the contest late in the second half.

Saturday’s semi-final game matched Cook Inlet against Our Lady of the Valley from Wasilla.  The Eagles posted a 4-1 victory with Abe Henderson scoring a single goal and Noah Castenholz adding three goals.

The championship game on Saturday turned into a CIA showcase with the Eagles winning 9-0 over Tri-Valley.  Abe Henderson finished with three goals, Noah Castenholz added four goals 4, and Lacie Sorhus and Valerie Cazares each scored in the Eagles championship victory.

Noah Castenholz was voted the male MVP of the tournament and Abe Henderson was selected to the all-tournament team.  Goalie Jeremy Dillingham was awarded the Golden Gloves Award and the Eagles were commended for the sportsmanship.
