The Cook Inlet Fisherman’s Fund has filed an appeal in their lawsuit against the Alaska Department of Fish and Game stating that the 2012 and 2013 seasons were mis-managed.
CIFF President John McCombs told us why they are appealing.
McCombs: “The points of the plan or appeal are lined out, there’s constitutional issues and there’s management issues and of course allocation issues as well but mostly its that they didn’t follow the plan and our case is about finding out why and getting depositions and getting the discovery work that we’re supposed to be able to do under that rule.”
He added that hopefully the mismanagement doesn’t happen again this year.
McCombs: “We’d like all the information that went on when they made those management decisions, we figured there was fish available and we should have been able to be fishing on them, especially the way the king shortage is and what not.”
