As we’ve previously reported, the city of Soldotna has introduced the plans to possibly implement three mini-roundabouts along Binkley St.
During last night’s Soldotna City Council meeting the council announced that they will be holding a meeting on February 11th at 5:00 pm at Soldotna City Hall to discuss their current plans for the Binkley St. Improvement project.
We spoke to Soldotna City Engineer Kyle Kornelis about what this meeting will cover.
Kornelis: “The meeting will really cover the improvements as a whole, certainly roundabouts will be covered and we’ll be prepared to hear public testimony and really have an informal meeting where we can talk with folks and address their concerns and we’ll also talk about gateway features, pedestrian movement, really anything folks want to bring to our attention and really anything we can help educate them on what our potential plans might include.”
Kornelis said they’ve been discussing snow removal around the mini roundabouts with the City’s maintenance department, and they have plans on how to move the snow without needing new equipment. Public comment on all aspects of the construction is welcome at February’s meeting…
Kornelis: “Adjacent property owners, anyone that commutes through there, we had folks from outside the city attending our council meeting and provide some public testimony and that’s welcome as well because Binkley is our major collector there’s a lot of major sectors on Binkley St. from government to educational to medical to residential so we hope for a great turn out and hopefully we’ll see plenty of people.”
