The ninth annual Kenai Peninsula College Fair will be held next week in Kenai and the School District has added a variety of educational institutions.
Pegge Erkeneff with the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District says the 9th annual college fair is free and open to any KPBSD students and their parents.
KPBSD Erkeneff: “Juniors and seniors in KPBSD schools talk to their counsellors, and we’re bussing students in, they’ve got different schedules. And also, any students that are in Connections- our homeschool, IDEA, or Cook Inlet Academy are also welcome to come and sign in at the door.”
Erekeneff said students can prepare for the college fair by thinking of questions they want to ask as well as checking out the list of educational institutions in case they want to plan their college fair visit.
She added that each year students often tell her that the fair is not only a great way to gain information but also to narrow down next level education options.
KPBSD Erkeneff: “They walk around with their bag and they’ve gotten information and they’ll say ‘Oh my gosh, I want to do more of that, I’m excited about that.’ Or, ‘Wow, I really kind of thought I might want to do this but after asking questions and talking to somebody, I am ruling that out.’ So it’s both an opportunity to look at doors that might open and to eliminate some choices.”
The College Fair will be Tuesday, October 16, from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm in the Kenai Central High School gymnasium.
