The Levitt AMP Soldotna Music Series, a 14-week series of free and live music presented by Vision Soldotna and the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce, is coming back in 2023 for a fourth season from June 7, through August 30. The concerts showcase a diverse lineup of high-caliber acts from across the country as well as talented local acts.
This years series begins on Wednesday, June 6th. Kicking that off is the 2nd Annual Color Run where participants are doused from head to toe in multi-colored powder and water. The race will begin with participants wearing white and finish the race covered in color. Those who wish to participate should arrive at Kenai Wildlife Refuge on Ski Hill Road at 4:30pm. It will be 2.2 miles to Soldotna Creek Park. There will be four color stations.
Maddy McElrea, Executive Director of the Soldotna Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center tells KSRM explains the new location of the Color Run;
“So, the color run is generously sponsored by Alaska Communications and Odom Corporation and the start time is 4:30 PM at the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge on Ski Hill Road. We will have four color stations and water stations along the way. The run ends at 5:30 PM at the Soldotna Creek Park and we are going to gather and take some really fun color photos.”
Following the conclusion of the color run, the kickoff to the 2023 Levitt Amp Soldotna Music Series begins with the Seward-based folk-rock group Blackwater Railroad Co. with the concert openers Ben Jammin and the Jammin Band. The event also features a beer and wine garden along with several food vendors.
McElrea discusses the first concert of the summer;
“Our opening band is going to be a local band, Ben Jamin and the Jammin Band. They will open at 6:00 o’clock, and then our headlining band will play from 7:00 to 9:00 PM and that will be Blackwater Railroad Company and I know that that will draw in a big crowd. They’re well-loved across Alaska and we’re really excited to have them for our kickoff to the summer.”
The music series will be each Wednesday evening at the Soldotna Creek Park beginning at 6:00 p.m.
