Conference contests in high school baseball, softball and soccer filled the Tuesday schedule as programs load as many conference games as possible into the final days of regular season play.
SoHi Baseball 1 – Homer 0
A one run in the fourth inning for the Stars holds-up for a 1-0 victory; as Caleb Spence and Mathew Dougherty combined for a no-hitter for the Soldotna baseball team over the Homer Mariners in Southcentral Conference action. Spence opened with four solid innings; Dougherty closed-out the final three scoreless innings. The Stars lone run was generated by a single for Kenny Griffin and an RBI ground ball for Joey Becher.
SoHi Softball 4 – Homer 15
The Homer Mariner softball team started slow, finished strong with a 15-4 dismantling of Soldotna High. The Stars held an early 3-2 lead; however, the Mariners outscored SoHi 12-2 in the final three innings and the game was called on the 10-run rule. Homer collected 18 hits while allow the Stars eight hits.
The SoHi girls continue conference play on Wednesday with a NLC pairing at Kenai against the Kenai Kardinals.
Nikiski Girls Soccer 0 – Homer 5
The Bulldog girls struggled to generate a goal in a 5-0 shutout by the Homer Mariners in Northern Lights Conference soccer action on Tuesday. Homer lead 1-0 at the half and scored four, unanswered goal in the second half. The Bulldog girls will face Seward on Friday with a seed to the conference tournament in the balance.
Nikiski Boys Soccer 1 – Homer 5
The Bulldog boys managed a single goal in NLC play with Homer posting a 5-1 conference soccer victory. The Bulldogs travel to Seward on Friday for Northern Lights Conference soccer.
