Two weekends remain in the regular season for high school basketball. For three central peninsula schools, Kenai, Nikiski and Soldotna, the final games on the peninsula and for the Kardinals and Stars, the final home games of the season are Friday and Saturday. All three teams close-out the regular season on the road the first weekend of March.
Southcentral Conference: Friday
Kenai vs Seward @ KCHS
Friday’s contests are decisive towards the seeding for the upcoming Southcentral Conference basketball tournament for the Kenai Kardinals and Nikiski Bulldogs; as Nikiski travels to Homer and the Kenai Kardinals host Seward on Kenai’s Senior Night.
Kenai Boys 46 – Seward 70 Jordan Kavaznikoff scored 15 points for Kenai.
Kenai Girls 36 – Seward 21 Bethany Morris lead the Kardinals with 12 points.
Nikiski Girls 43 – Homer 45
Nikiski Boys 35 – Homer 67 Noah Litke 13 points for the Bulldogs.
Soldotna vs Kenai: Saturday
Soldotna’s final home contest features the traditional SoHi vs Kenai pairing. Even though the two programs now play in different divisions, Saturday’s games are still must-see basketball.
The SoHi girls will honor their seniors at 3 p.m. with the varsity girls game set for 3:15 p.m. The SoHi boys, loaded with nine seniors, will recognize the boys at 4:45 p.m. with the varsity game set for 5 p.m.
