Conference & Divisional Basketball Fills Weekend Schedule

With only three weekends remaining in the regular season for high school basketball, and with conference standings and seeding for conference tournaments still in flux; Friday’s basketball schedule featured home contests for SoHi, Kenai and Nikiski; road games for CIA and the Ninilchik Invitational.

 

SoHi vs Colony in Northern Lights Conference basketball

SoHi Girls 28 – Colony Girls 59

The Colony girls jumped to a 35-11 halftime lead on the Knights way to a 59-28 NLC victory.  Josie Sheridan led the Stars with 10 points.  SoHi stands at 2-5 in the NLC; Colony, 5-2.

SoHi Boys 43 – Colony Boys 73

The Stars played even with Colony early trailing 17-14 after one quarter; Colony extended the lead to 42-22 at the half and finished 73-43 over the SoHi boys.  SoHi boys stand at 1-6 in NLC; Colony 8-0

SoHi hosts Colony on Saturday with games scheduled for 3 & 4:30 p.m. at SoHi.

Kenai vs Seward in Peninsula Conference basketball

Seward Girls 46 – Kenai Girls 42

The Kenai Kardinal girls fell to Seward 46-42 as Seward built a 12-point lead in the second half.  Kenai rallied to draw to with-in two points in the fourth quarter.  Emma Beck led the Kards with 19 points; Seward’s Robin Cronin scored 15 points.  Kenai girls stand at 2-3 in the Peninsula Conference; Seward, 4-1.

Kenai Boys 58 – Seward 29

The Kenai boys pulled-away in the second half, outscoring Seward 34-12 for the 58-29 Peninsula Conference victory.  Jakob Kvasnikoff and James Wade each scored 11 points for Kenai in the win.  The Kardinals improve to 4-1 in the Peninsula Conference; Seward, 2-3.

 

Nikiski vs Houston in Peninsula Conference basketball

Nikiski Girls 52 – Redington Girls 24

Shelby Burman scored 16 points in the Bulldog girls 52-24 non-conference win over Eastern Conference Redington high School.

Nikiski Boys 52 – Redington 47 OT

The Bulldogs battled Redington through regulation time and pulled-away in overtime for the 52-47 victory.  Charlie Chamberlain’s three-pointer sent the game to overtime tied at 43-43.  Drew Handley topped all scorers with 22 points for the Bulldogs.

 

Ninilchik Invitational 

Ninilchik Boys 86 – Cordova 64

Colvin Moore scored 32 and Jaylin Scott added 21 points for the Wolverines.

Cordova Girls 50 – Ninilchik 30 

Nenana Boys 42 – Bristol Bay 32

Tri-Valley Boys 52 -Nenana 33

Tri-Valley Girls 34 -Nenana 29

 

Cook Inlet @ Birchwood Academy

CIA girls 52 -Birchwood Christian 11

Tatum Rozak scored 20 and Hope Hillyer added 18 points in a 52-11 Peninsula Conference victory over Birchwood.

CIA boys 84 – Birchwood Christian 38

Ian McGarry lead the Eagles with 30 points in an 84-38 conference win over Birchwood.  The Eagles improve to 4-0 in the Class 1A Peninsula Conference
