Conference Pairings Fill Football Week Six Schedule

Conference showdowns in the Peninsula Conference for Division III football and in the Northern Lights Conference for Division II football highlight week six of the regular season for high school football.

 

Friday Night Football–September 20th

 

Nikiski vs Houston @ Nikiski   5:30 p.m.   ESPN 1140AM and www.radiokenai.com

The Nikiski Bulldogs, fresh off a road victory over the Kethchikan Kings, play host to the undefeated Houston Hawks on Friday, September 20th at Nikiski High School.

The Bulldogs look to stop a high-powered Houston offense which posted 47 points against Seward last week to improve to 2-0 in the Peninsula Conference.  Nikiski’s victory in week five over Ketchikan was also a conference game and the Bulldogs stand at 1-0.  Game time set for 5:30 p.m.

 

Saturday Football–Saturday 21st

 

Kenai vs Eagle River @ Eagle River   2 p.m.    KSRM 920AM and www.radiokenai.com

The Kenai Kardinals open Northern Lights Conference play on the road at Eagle River against the Wolves on Saturday, September 21st.

The Kardinals ground attack has accounted for 740 of Kenai’s 900 total offensive yards, lead by Zach Burnett with an average of 7.8 yards per carry and 342 yards.  Kenai stands at 1-3 on the season with an opening game victory over Homer.  The Kards and Wolves are battling for one of two NLC playoff spots into the Division II football playoffs.

Eagle River stands at 1-0 in the NLC with a victory over Kodiak and 3-2 on the season.  Game time scheduled for 2 p.m.

 

SoHi vs Kodiak @ Soldotna High   2 p.m.    ESPN 1140AM and www.radiokenai.com

The SoHi football machine, 4-0 on the season, continues to roll with the Stars hosting winless Kodiak on Saturday, September 21st at Justin Maile Field.

The Stars offense has posted nearly 2,000 yards and averages nearly 50 points per game through the first four games of the regular season which includes victories over a pair of Anchorage Division I schools and a victory in Southern California.

The Stars downed Lathrop last week in SoHi’s first Division II contest; the Stars amassing over 500 yards and 51 points in just three quarters.  Quarterback Jersey Truesdell has recorded 12 touchdowns, 8 rushing and 4 passing and connected on 16 PAT kicks and a pair of 2-pt. conversions.  Wyatt Medcoff is the top rusher in Division II with 540 yards and an average of 15 yards per carry.  SoHi vs Kodiak on Saturday, game time scheduled for 2 p.m.
