Stars & Kards Eliminated At Conference Volleyball Tournament

The Northern Lights Conference and Southcentral Conference volleyball tournaments are underway.

The NLC championships at Palmer High School; the SCC championships at Grace Christian School in Anchorage.

The NLC tournament is a double-elimination tournament.  The top three teams from the Northern Lights Conference tournament advance to the ASAA 4A State Volleyball Tournament scheduled for November 13-15th at the Alaska Airlines Center at UAA.

 

Northern Lights Conference Championships

The NLC tournament runs Thursday through Saturday, November 6th-8th at Palmer High School.  The NLC tournament is a double-elimination tournament.  The top three teams from the Northern Lights Conference tournament advance to the ASAA 4A State Volleyball Tournament scheduled for November 13-15th at the Alaska Airlines Center at UAA.

Friday Game Results

Colony 3 – SoHi 2

Wasilla 3 – Kenai 0

Both SoHi and Kenai eliminated.

Thursday Game Results

SoHi 3 – Kenai 1 

The Soldotna Stars defeated Kenai 3-1 in the tournaments first round.  SoHI fell in game one 22-25; then took three in a row from the Kardinals.  SoHI’s Hayley Ramsell recorded 12 kills; Abby Beck for Kenai recorded 11 kills.  SoHi  advanced to play the #2 seed Kodiak.

Kodiak 3 – SoHi 0

The Kodiak Bears swept SoHi in the winner’s bracket, semi-final game on Thursday night, advancing Kodiak to a guaranteed state tournament berth.  The Bears won three-straight 25-15, 25-13, and 25-20.

SoHi continues play with a 1:00 p.m. Friday game against the Colony Knights.

 

Southcentral Conference Championships

The SCC tournament runs Friday and Saturday, November 7th-8th at Grace Christian School in Anchorage.  he SCC tournament is a double-elimination tournament.  The top three teams from the Southcentral Conference tournament advance to the ASAA 3A State Volleyball Tournament scheduled for November 13-15th at the Alaska Airlines Center at UAA.

The Nikiski Bulldogs earn a #5 seed into the tournament with a 6-6 SCC record.

Nikiski will face #4 seed Cordova in the tournament’s opening game at noon Friday. A victory and the Bulldogs advance to face #1 seed Grace Christian at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.  Grace Christian is the top seed into the tournament followed by ACS, Homer and Cordova; a three-way, tiebreaker determining the #2 through #4 seeds.
