BP and ConocoPhillips Alaska have signed Gas Availability Agreements for their share of North Slope natural gas which allows the Alaska LNG project to move forward if either withdraw during the next phase of the gasline.
Governor Bill Walker announced the agreements today, just after the Alaska Gasline Development Corporation board unanimously approved 2016’s work program and budget for the preliminary front-end engineering and design of the project.
Walker stated in a release, “I thank BP and ConocoPhillips for addressing the state’s concerns by agreeing to continue to negotiate mutually agreed and commercially reasonable terms under which their gas would be made available in the event either company does not proceed beyond pre-FEED. BP and ConocoPhillips have given us the assurances we need to move forward.”
There is still no word on a Gas Availability Agreement with Exxon Mobil Corp.
