A usual shortcut from South Kobuk Street to the Sterling Hwy via Riverside Dr. is currently under construction in Soldotna.
Alaska Road Builders President Ron Davis said the project shouldn’t take too long as long as they don’t run into frost while excavating.
Davis: “A couple of weeks, we have the curb and gutter to put in there and we have to change some grade and do some manholes, catch basins and what not.”
Davis said that the project includes connecting the current curb on Kobuk street back to the Marcus intersection at Riverside.
He added that this will hopefully correct a drainage problem that usually occurs in the winter and spring times at the Riverside and Kobuk intersection.
This is also a portion of the Porcupine Ct. project and said hopefully both projects will be done by Fourth of July weekend.
