The City of Soldotna will close the Corral and Binkley Street intersection on Monday, April 13, as part of the final phase of the Binkley Street Renovation Project.
Project Manager Lee Frey…
Frey: “We’re putting in a new sewer lift station at that intersection, the existing one there is pretty max capacity so we’re putting a bigger one in there with bigger pumps to be able o handle everything a little better and then we’ll be reconstructing that intersection and putting everything back together when we’re done.”
The closure has been scheduled through late May but Frey said they hope to have it done sooner.
To facilitate the work, the traffic signal that is currently there will be taken down.
Frey: “Street lights will remain there so the poles will still be there but the traffic lights themselves will go down and a new pedestrian flasher crossing will go in at the intersection similar to the one that went in to the Park Street intersection.”
The Binkley Street Project began last spring and installed three mini roundabouts in 2014.
