Following a career spanning of over 23 years with the Kenai Peninsula Borough, Johni Blankenship has moved her office supplies to the Soldotna City Hall and will now serve as the Soldotna City Clerk following her swearing-in ceremony on Wednesday at the Soldotna City Council meeting.
Johni Blankenship was sworn in as the Soldotna City Clerk on November 30th, 2022. The position effective on December 1st , 2022.

Blankenship was first hired as Administrative Assistant to the KPB Clerk’s office in 1999; appointed to the position of Deputy Clerk in 2005 and Borough Clerk in 2008. Blankenship received their Certified Municipal Clerk designation in 2007 and their Master Municipal Clerk designation in 2011.
Blankenship was the recipient of Alaska Municipal League’s “Municipal Employee of the Year” award in 2013, and the Alaska Association of Municipal Clerks, “Clerk of the Year” award in 2016.
Blankenship served on the executive board of the Alaska Association of Municipal Clerks from 2011 through 2015, serving as the President of the Association in 2013.
The term of the contract for Interim City Clerk Brekke Hewitt was scheduled to end on December 31, 2022.
