The Kenai Animal Shelter received kudos from the City Council last week when council member Ryan Marquis said they are well organized and keeping with the times.
Marquis: “I was looking for a new adoptable family member and I made some trips to the local animal shelter to see what they had and what they offered and I was just really impressed with the quality of service that they provide there, how well they care for the animals, how knowledgeable the staff is, and one of the things that I though was particularly interesting that they did was that they embraced social media and they post information about the animals that they have adoptable there, and not only do they post pictures but they post information and personal stories about each of the animals.”
He said the shelter employees work hard to match the right person with the right animal in an effort to bring down returns and euthanasia rates.
And as for the Marquis family’s new husky mix…
Marquis: “If my daughter has her way it would be named Biscuit but she’s not going to have her way.”
