Yesterday the Central Peninsula Hospital finalized the purchase of Imaging Associates of Providence for $2.9 million.
CEO Rick Davis said the group approached the hospital a little over a year ago to see if there was interest in purchasing their imaging center and the Kenai Peninsula Borough approved the purchase at the August 5th assembly meeting.
Davis: “Just gives us an alternative for our outpatient imagining, helps of sort of off-load some of our inpatient services, it gives the patient the ability to not have to navigate through the whole hospital, parking and stuff like that just to get to outpatient imagining.”
He said the purchase addresses the growing population need for services.
Davis: “The state figures about 3,000 is a good number for CAT scans for one machine for one year and ours internally here did 7,000 last year so we definitely have a need for more cat scan capacity. MRI has more function and ease of access for out patients, they don’t have to navigate throughout the hospital to get an MRI now, it sort of frees our in hospital MRI up for emergencies and things like that.”
Those outpatient services will be conducted at the Imaging Associates of Providence current location on the Spur Highway.
Davis said all employees of the company bought were offered jobs and are continuing to work for the hospital.
